Back to the drawing board!

Since July of 2018, we have invited half a dozen local building firms to give us cost estimates for a new wing for our convent. We were not sure just how many new cells we would be able to afford to build. Four? Six?

Now, Swedish carpenters may be quite competent at building, but when it comes to paper work, we had to practice not a little monastic patience waiting for the price quotes!

As time went by, we understood that we would have to modify our plans. Donations were coming in, mostly from the generous faithful attached to the Monastery of St. Edward in England, but the six cells that we had initially been hoping to build proved to be beyond our budget. We thus went back to the drawing board and came up with a new plan for five cells, 69 square meters.

We are now happy to say that we have decided on a building firm that has impressed us by its professionalism. We are still waiting for their new price quote now that we have downsized our plans, but at this point it looks as if we will still need to raise approximately 10,000 euros to make these plans a reality. If you would like to contribute, you may do so here: https://www.klosterikoner.com/building?lang=en.

We will keep you informed of our progress on this blog. The next step is to apply for a building permit....

We keep all our benefactors in our daily prayers!
